Default Need HELP removing '03 V40 fuel filter

I'm having trouble removing the fuel filter on my '03 V40. The side that requires a special tool was easy enough with a plastic putty knife I cut a square notch in, but the other side that has two blue square push-buttons won't release the filter. I can rotate the filter along its axis (so it is not stuck), and I know the buttons are pushed in all the way when I try to pull it off... since I wasn't sure if my fingers were pushing the buttons in all the way (since the buttons are flush) I modified a pair of pliers to push the buttons in for me, but that didn't help any. I have a feeling if I use any more force than I have, i'll end up breaking the thing, and the funny thing is, at Volvo parts they can't figure out from the schematics what that piece of fuel line is, so I better not break it since the part apparently does not exist for me to replace it!

Any tricks? First thing I did before anything was spray it with triflow to loosen things up, so I've already tried the penetrating oil trick.

Thanks in advance.

Very strange. They usually come right off. I use my fingers and press the buttons in and pull the filter out.
