I have a 2000 Volvo S40 manual and i love my car, i have 2 problems though and would love it if there is someone out there that could give me some advice. My car looses complete power while driving. The dashboard goes completely dead and then if i give it a couple of seconds it gets power back and then i have to put my radio code back in. Has anyone had this problem before? Also my car has gotten awefully heavy on fuel as of late and seems to lack the power it used to have. When i first got it i was able to put my foot down and get speeds in excess of 200kms/h with no problem but lately i struggle to get it to 160kms/h. Not that i need to do these speeds but it helps when your on a long road trip.

1. Check all battery and ground connections.

2. Last tune up including coils and wires replacement?

 

I already checked all the battery connections, i replaced my battery. My car has a full maintenance history and has 135k on the clock. No need to replace coils and wires with no faults with them?

 

Well if it is hesitating when getting on it pretty hard it might be misfiring due to the coils or wires.
