Default 2006 Volvo S40 T5 - Breather Box

For past few weeks I noticed a drop or two of oil under the engine. Then last I saw more oil. The oil leak had a pattern of being sprayed or something like that.

I took the car in to get it checked and was told that I had Engine Breather Box problem. They told me to get it replaced. I was told that there should be a high pitched whistling sound accompanying with this problem. I do not hear any such sound.

Took the car to my other mechanic and he said there was lot of oil leak from the oil filter casket. he changed the oil filter and ran the engine for 15 minutes or more and saw no leak.

So, what do I do? Should I still get the Breather Box replaced?

Thanks for help.

You might need to replace your oil trap

Default Oil Trap

My trap being replaced as we speak. Started making a squeal sound like a bad bearing - maybe alternator or a tensioner... but NO, ... the oil trap...apparently clogged. Mileage: 115K, S40 T5.
