2007 Volvo s60 2.5L pistons
Had someone do timing belt on the car they messed up timing valve slap on every piston didn’t start up only cranked can I just replace the pistons or do I need to do connecting rods and valves?
If the timing belt was installed incorrectly - enough to where the valves hit the pistons - you will simply have bent valves. There won't be any connecting rod or piston damage (other than some small marks on the tops of the pistons.)
The dents in your photos on your pistons - Saw those maybe 60 times on engines timing belts came off while running. Simply had the machine shop I use do a valve job, replacing usually all 20 valves (or 16/24 with the 4/6 cylinders), sometimes guide replacement was needed. The hard part is adjusting the valves - so we left that up to a machine shop.
Some may suggest smoothing out the dents to prevent hotspots. But we usually just left them alone.

Thank you for your recommendations definitely saved me some money and time is there any other way to contact you like email I have a video I’d like you to take a look at but I can’t upload it here it seems like my camshaft is bent when I look it up doesn’t seem like that happens to people so If you could take a look at a video I made that would be awesome thank you!
