2017 XC90 Windshield Replacement Inquiry
I need to replace the front windshield on my 2017 xc90 (T6 inscription not sure if it matters). I do not have the HUD but do have the distance alert with the 3 or 4 orange dots showing on the windshield when I am too close to the car in front of me. The dealer offered me "genuine parts with installation/calibration" at around 1400-1500 (dealer says they dont do installation so they will ask a 3rd party come in to do the job), though I am still waiting for a final quote. And then I asked safelite for the OEM parts I also got a quote of 1450 with calibration. I am quite confused now since I checked all the reddit/volvo user forum and everyone is saying that safelite OEM is a lot more cheaper than dealer offers (at least several hundreds, sometimes 1000+ difference).
Can anyone tell me where did I go wrong and what should I do XD? My insurance does not cover and I had to pay on my own. One thing that I am sure is that I do need the OEM parts, not the aftermarket parts.
Also safelite has options to get new wipers for 30/50 dollars more I am not sure if that is also needed.

When safelite replaced my 2015 xc70 windshield - they used the factory Volvo windshield.
Wipers are offered because perhaps the blades were run across cracks and were damaged - if they work fine - don't replace them. (And I usually only sell Volvo blades anyway)
Why does your insurance not cover glass breakaage?

Got it! I guess Ill just go with the safelite OEM parts as I called and they say its 1439 instead of a online quote (I guess not OEM) of 1000. Double checking quotes from the dealer again tomorrow but they say they use 3rd parties so it does not make any difference.
