Default 244 Replacement Alternator Challenge

Note - I am a novice Volvo (240) mechanic.
Issue - lights (and other electric components) dimmed over a week to 10 days. Brick died in driveway.
Deduced that the alternator was the problem.
I removed old alternator and replaced it with a new one (rebuilt).
Yes, I could have just replaced the Voltage Regulator... but this thing looked OE!
My mistake - did not label or photo wiring to the alternator before removal.
Used my two V repair manuals for correct wiring... I think...
Car started with a boost. Idled for 20 minutes. Drove for 30. Labored restart and then it died again in the driveway. No crank. Battery light on in dash even with key off and out!
- Bad Battery?
- Alternator wired incorrectly and it's not charging the battery?
- Did I destroy the alternator with improper wiring?
Thanks.
Walter
