Pretty sure the inset is different. I wouldn't try it if it's going to cost money.

 

Thanks... yeah, my fav 5 speed manual 97 850 wagon started overheating (I'd stopped and checked/topped off overflow) and on a blind curve in the mountains suddenly a loud pop and the entire interior was instantly filled with dense white fog. Was able to get window down so could see center line so didn't drift into oncoming lane or over the cliff and made it to a wide spot to park. Warped head, blown heater core (plus existing non-op odo, needing new timing belt and 200K service, clutch iffy etc). Not sure worth repairing. Thought maybe alloy wheels might look good on my daughters 740. Aaarugh.

 

It can be done. My dad put some 850 rims on a 88 740 but he bought larger studs and spacers and it look great that was a long time ago we sold the 3 months ago..
