tires/wheels- 17 inch on 04 V70 Titanium
I have a 2004 v70 fwd titanium model that came from the factory with 17 inch alloy wheels. I have always had trouble turning from lock to lock - the steering wheel becomes very resistant at the end points and it seemed like the pump was not getting the fluid to the steering wheel. the factory claims there is nothing wrong with this. I am now about to buy a new set of tires and wonder if I should put on 16 inch wheels and would that make a difference? does anyone know anything about this?
thanks for the reply. I sent a reply last night and wonder if you received it. I do want to address this matter again with the factory and the messages I have on this forum confirm a problem with the 17 inch wheels. I would like to give the factory rep the mechanical reasons as to why this problem occurs if you are able to provide those.
The tires are bigger than the cars were designed to handle. When I turn my 850 R sharp with the 17" wheels they rub. If you do the math, I bet the 17 " wheels are probably about 1 inch bigger in diameter than the 15 inch wheels and they are wider also. Tech might have a better answer, but that's what I believe.
Agreed it was designed Poorly.
The only thing they will do is install stop in the steering rack that will LIMIT YOUR STEERING EVEN MORE THAN NOW.
Believe me you will hate it!!!
It will take you 5 Blocks to make a U-turn.
