My '91 240 has failed emissions 3 times (NOX and HC)! After some research, I believe the EGR valve is the culprit. I purchased a new one and attempted to install it today. Nothing under my hood resembles the EGR valve I bought. I found an engine diagram showing where it should mount to the intake. My manifold has the indentations for the EGR, but they were never bored out. There is some type of valve with a vacuum hose on the manifold, but I cannot find an earlier EGR valve that looks like what I have. Has anyone seen this? I thought maybe my motor was not a "91 or maybe it was a CA car, but I can't find anything to support that.
