Default 940 died on freeway

I had it towed home, thinking I would just read the codes nd replace whatever. I put the plug in the obd box A and pushed the button for 3 seconds and NADA - zip. Went to terminal 6 and got 111. I had someone crank it for me and felt no fuel pump and there was no spark. No codes, Anyone? I mean there is even a code for a bad ECU I think,--- Thanks- Sal

Default RE: 940 died on freeway

When I read the title, I thought there was 940 fatality on the freeway...

.....[8D]

Did you notice anything when the engine quit on you? Was the timing belt replaced within the last 70,000 miles or 5 years? If the engine died all ofa sudden, it is usually:

- Loss of fuel supply.
- Loss of spark (ignition).
- Timing belt breakage.
- Alternator failure.

Since the ECU reported 1-1-1, the ECU was probably ok. Is Check Engine Light on? And yes thereshould bea code for ECU failure. I am not privy to the 940, but if it has OBD-II connection, I would try to pull codes via OBD-II. Or, if the 940 has different OBD-I ports for fuel system & ignition system, make sure to try both.

And when was the last tune-up?

Try posting this in the 940 forum, there should be some 940 experts who could better help you than I could.
