WSE Arrow light had been blinking intermittently for about 2 weeks. I couldn't determine any pattern. Car drove OK, shifting was OK. Yesterday drove about 50' in reverse, about 1/8 mile in drive, and car dropped into neutral. No response to gear shifting. Walked to my neighbor/mechanic, and we drove back to car. He had brought gearbox oil, filled tank. He said it was about a qt down. He got in, started it, drove about 50', and had no gears. He took me home, called for help to tow it. About 1/2 hour went by, got ready to tow, and car drove perfectly--for about 1/8 mile. He and helper pushed it into the yard. He called later, said he let it cool for about 1/2 hr, and it drove perfectly--until it was warmed up. Then it fell into neutral. I'd read piles of posts here and all over the Net, and all the symptoms seem to match PNP problem, except for this issue of no-gears when it's warmed up. Any ideas would be appreciated.
