98 v70 xc shuddering sounds in Front Wheels
I just bought a 98 v70 xc and the front wheels are making a shuddering sound. At first it only occurred when turning, but now it happens when driving on inclines and starting to occur on flat surfaces as well. Does this sound like an axle issue or something else?
Also, each bump is really felt! Would this mean that shocks and struts would need to be replaced? I am not sure they were replaced and the car is at 128K.
Any feedback would be great!
Thanks

At first it was only occurring when I would turn the wheel all the way to the left. Then it starting happening on inclines without turning the wheel.
This is what made me think that it was not the drive shaft. I had an 850 Wagon before this and I replaced the drive shaft, noise has none of the similarities of the other car?
Thanks for your feedback, please keep sending them, your input is truly welcomed.

Just a ref to the suspension components you may want to consider replacing (Note, that it is for 850 and V/S70 may have different set-up). Note, that not everything I circled (boxed) needs replaced. I replaced them all because each part was not too expensive. I bought all parts from FCP Groton. After having replaced those parts and had the alignment done, my 850 handled like new and ride comfort had improved as well.
These cars are showing age, and the original performance may not come back unless you replace all bushings, which would require a special equipment (or would not). The bushings for the front sway bar on certain models cannot be replaced independently; you need the entire sway bar (correct me if I'm wrong).
As to the rear, I had replaced the upper mount, shock absorber. The rear shock absorber (not sure about the Nivomat auto-leveling set-up) has already-installed bushing.
I hope this is of some use.
