Just got this 99 Volvo S80, was told it runs perfect, it doesn't. Went 3 miles from home, it would start but wouldn't move. After letting it cool off, (idk but it seemed very hot for only going 3 miles when I lifted the hood), it started and ran fine. Waited a couple minutes and started it again, again it wouldn't move. This morning, started fine, drove fine. Started back up
after ten minutes, started fine, wouldn't move. Any ideas?
Also, the big triangle with the exclamation point on the instrument panel is lit up!
Thanks in advance

Have you had the transmission fluid level checked? Could also be related the the PNP switch (shifter position sensor). Try doing a shifter row - ie car off, key in position 2 to unlock the shifter. Move the shifter from P to Lo 10 or 20X fast. Idea is the row can clean up the PNP contacts enough to get it to behave normally.
As to the warning lamp, check your owners manual. If you don't have one in the glove box, you can find them online at https://www.volvocars.com/us/own/own...owners-manuals (A volvo site, no adds, no cost).
