Default '99 S80 T6 Cold Starting Problem

Hey everyone,

I own a '99 S80 T6. Purchased used June 2008 w/84k miles. Currently has 96k miles. Since Nov/Dec of last year, it can take upwards of 10 minutes to get the car started if it has been sitting overnight. During the day I don't have this problem once I get the car started and drive for a while. But, once I get it started and I turn it off within 10 - 15 minutes of getting it started, I have the same problem.

Can you guys give me some suggestions as to what might be causing this?

Thanks a lot!

It is as of recently (within 2 weeks) however not since this issue first started last winter. I grabbed a code reader and it says there is a issue with #6 coil (dont remember what the exact message was).

Most likely you have a bad coil but that will not cause that much of an issue on starting.
Do you smell Raw gas by the R/R tire?

Should I check for this with the engine running or not?

Running or just after you shut it off.

**UPDATE**

After a very cold night here in Northern California, my car decided that it would not start for me .. at all. Usually I could get it to start after 10-15 minutes of trying. Had it towed to the dealership. Initially, they thought it was the fuel pump. I told them that usually after i get the car started in the morning it would start for me the rest of the day. After I explained that to them, they found that there were 2 relays that were bad. One, the STARTER relay was "weak" and the FUEL PUMP relay was bad. 2 - $25 dollar parts later, the car starts on the first crank, first thing in the morning! WOO HOO!

Thanks for your update. I'm going to order a fuel pump relay to see if it cures my problem.

It's on a panel that is located under the steering column within the interior of the car, just above your brake pedal. You need to remove some paneling to access it.
