RE: About TIME!!
When music is loud is the worst time for wind noise in my book. When I'm listening to Dark Side of the Moon and the quiet parts come on or the beginning where the music fades in real slow I don't want to be listening to wind noise. Just my 2 cents.
What the heck tell another story here. I put this real powerful stereo with an amp and Focal Kevlar speakers in the Porsche I used to own. You had to play it real loud to block out the sound of the Porsche and the wind noise. Anyway I was driving it one day with my wife in the car, and it the music was loud. She said something about how loud it was, and I answered it was not loud enough. She asked why I didn't think it was loud enough and I answered because "I can still hear you". I hope you find humor in that because she sure didn't. I'm laughing about it as I write this though. We've been married 29 years now, so I guess I can still get away with stuff like that.

RE: About TIME!!
Looks good. I've also got a couple of questions.
1. What year/model is the car?
2. Where did you get the cold air intake? Is it K&N or did you buy it seperately from the filter? I've been wanting to do some mods to my '99 S70, and I like the sound of your recommendation for an intake. BTW: What makes it a 'cold air' intake? Is the air duct from the front grille still right underneath your cone filter or what?
Hope thats not too many Q's. Thanks.

1. 1999 s70 GLT
2. i got the intake from EST. they call it cold air i believe because of how the air goes directly into the filter as opposed to warming up on its way thru the stock air filter box. the air duct is completely removed.

I dont mean to get too technical here, but a CAI is supposed to take-in cold outside air(outside of the engine bay). Bringing in more air than stock additionally. Ive seen several guys with a cone filter with no heat shield and thinking they have a CAI set-up. U pull-in hot engine bay air, defeating the purpose. At least on my car, the stock intake pipe is routed directly from the upper radiator grille opening to the air filter box, bringing in outside air.
S70turbo, please dont think I'm referring to your set-up. I see that u have a heat shield. The only thing that I noticed from the pic was I was wondering if u sealed along the battery. Im assuming there is some type of opening in the inner fender for outside air to get to the filter, so you're prob better off than stock.
My only point was that simply removing the air duct does not give one more power. There are guys with R's that made their own CAI system, adding a second air duct into the modified air box.

RE: About TIME!!
I think he is talking about sealing off the entire intake, so that the filter is totally enclosed so no hot engine air is sucked in.
And no there is no duct for air to get to the filter, other then the stock pipe that runs to the EST intake. At least I am pretty sure the stock pipe runs under the EST intake.

could you explain the whole sealing off the battery and such? id like to check that out. im not 100% sure if it is set up so that i can get air thru the inner fender. thanks

Looking at the pic u posted, it doesnt look like the heat shield continues along the back-side of the battery. That side is not sealed, so engine bay air is getting around (or above) the battery. As for the inner fender thing, I had an Eclipse that had the stock air intake come in thru a hole in the inner fender wall, so when I had a heat shield with an aftermaket filter/inatake on, the air still came thru the fender wall.

RE: About TIME!!
Well please don't weld something onto the EST heatshield. I suggest selling the EST heatshield and filter, and making a custom enclosed box. It shouldn't cost that much to do. It will be less then the EST system.
However I will be glad to take the EST system off your hands.
