Im new here - 2021 Volvo XC60 Momentum w/ 7200 miles. AC stopped abruptly yesterday while driving in hot AZ-dealer says compressor needs to be replaced. Should I be concerned-basically this is a NEW car and this is a big repair!! Any thoughts appreciated.

 

I also want to know more about it. Actually, my car AC isn't working fine for a few days. Thank you!

 

alexJake - nothing remarkable re this - I was driving on an ordinary 105 degree day in AZ w/ AC on at full speed, heard a strange noise and within seconds- no cold air - just HOT air! Not pleasant. Am NOT happy with this event on basically a brand new car.

 

your car is under warranty right? Dealers are paid by the factory to make warranty repairs so its no cost to you and it gives the dealer an incentive to fix the job right and give you peace of mind that he car will be better than new. All car parts have a small percentage of fails and the bulk of those fails happen in the first year. Also consider Volvo sources components like the AC compressors, alternators etc from major industry suppliers who also sell to Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Toyota and so on so this is not something that is systemic to Volvo.
