Default Aftermarket catalytic converters

Any comments on Muffler Express or Walker flex/converter assemblies? The OEM part for my XC60 t6 2010 is $2000. Looking for a less expensive option.

So, I have spent a couple of months slowly gathering info on this. Here is a summary of what I now know. This info has been gathered and verified from more than I source (ex volvo mechanics and exhaust system specialists:
1/ The OEM Volvo Catalytic convertor will outperform and outlast all the aftermarket units by a good margin. I have been told to search out a used Volvo part as it will outlast the best aftermarket parts. You simply need a installer who is willing to weld the the inlet to a new flex (flex is likely to be done if convertor needs replacing), and weld the outlets straight thru to the dual exhausts. In this way I dropped the cost from $2500.00 Cdn tax inc. to less than $1000. It is a little difficult to get your hands on used convertor because they are the first thing wreckers rip off and sell for the materials. But if you tell them up from you'll pay 150% material price you can get their attention...

2/ the aftermarket. Ther are two clases of aftermarket convertor assemblies for the XC60. Two or three are recognized to generally give 2 - 3 years of service (Eastern, Walker, Magnaflo). They are not giving them away. I had prices of $1700.00 Cdn compared $2000.00+ for the OEM. So if you're planning to keep your car for more than a couple of years the choice is fairly clear.

hope this helps.

What I'd do is check out Volvo friendly web stores like FCP Euro or IPD USA to see what brands they carry in their aftermarkets parts selection. I did use Walker O2 sensors on an 850 that worked just fine with no CELs, but not sure about the cat converter.
