2010 XC60 T6 3.0 turbo
M'y XC60 started making noise from the under carriage at the front. Put her on a hoist and saw a small (1 cm) perforation on the leading edge of the catalytic converter, as well as black stains on the flex connector, which tell me it's perforated as well. Got a quote for $2400. Cdn OEM part (Québec, Canada).
I'm told that used parts, especially for the turbo model, are very hard to come by. Here the first thing wreckers do is strip off the converter to sell for the rare earth metal.
Have any of you resolved this problem. Good places to get aftermarket parts? Or other solutions?
Moré:
I saw a small hole on the. catalytic conerter where it narrows to connect the flex. I did not s the top face of the converter. Is the top likely to: rust out faster than the lower Side? Same sppeed as lower face, same speed. ?
What I am getting at is - any chance I could gett the converter repaired. As i weld a seal over the hole? Or even use some muffler repair mastic?
Thanks Vivo1
