My wife has a 2005 XC70 and a new message is in the text box and there is nothing I cna find in the manuals. The message reads: "alarm system requires attention". Does anyone have any idea as to what causes this? I could take it to the dealer, but they'll charge an arm and leg just to diagnose it.

 

The alarm siren might be bad. Very common on the earlier cars.

 

I have the same problem. It started yesterday. The red light light on the dashboard was flashing maniacally. The lights outside were flashing, no horn when I went to unlock it today. A bad siren? What does that mean? Wiring fried or the siren burned out?
