2007 xc70 chasing small evap leak now dealer says fuel tank leak where molded lines leave tank. $2,650 repair I think this part should not fail at 45,000 miles. Car never hit. Manufacturing defect? Do I have any recourse?

 

Sorry, forgot you asked about recourse in your other post. You can call Volvo Customer Care. Goodwill is case by case though. If you regularly have the car serviced at an independent shop, I wouldn't expect any assistance. If it's dealer serviced, they will likely help with the cost.

 

3 rd Volvo but do all my own service. I'll give it a try and if they don't do anything I will not buy another. As if they would care.

 

If you've bought three new Volvos, they'll care. They may not cover it fully, but they might split it with you. Certainly worth a shot. Even a 50/50 split would save a good chunk of change.

 

Update Volvo dealer called and said it was not the tank but it is the fuel neck that was leaking. $1,100 now. Still a lot of money but sure beats $2,650. If the check engine light comes on again I'm getting rid of it. Inspection due the end of this month.
