Hi,

I have 145K miles on my car and it droves smooth, since I had recently bought it I would like to do an oil change on it for my own record. Was wondering if Mobil1 0W-40 would be a wise choice. We have 95 octane used here.

Thanks for any inputs beside oil change.

 

What weight does the manual recommend?

The manual says 10W30, we are short of this grade now, the normal high temps are too high here 90-100F for a 30 weight oil to protect engine and I may need a 40 weight syn blend, use a 10W40 and change every 5K.

Any thoughts

 

it depends on the weather that u r living in. does it goes below 0 degree c in the morning? if so is recommend to use 5-30 castrol.

 

If temps stay above -20c (-4f) I would use 10w-40

 

10W40 is likely easy to find and many people use it without hurt, but I think after many searches I have almost decided to use 0W40 that will give my high mileage 145k miles XC the most protection all year around even though it's pricey. My second best option as rspi have mentioned below is the syn blend 10W40.
