Default Best Practices for Using Braided Heat Shrink on Oil and Fuel Lines?

Hey everyone,

I’m looking into using braided heat shrink sleeving to protect some oil and fuel lines in the engine bay of my project car. I’ve seen products like abrasion-resistant 2:1 braided heat shrink that shrink tightly over AN lines, offering both protection and a clean look.

Has anyone here used this type of sleeving before? How well does it hold up to heat and fluids over time? Any installation tips, like heat gun settings or prepping the lines beforehand?

I’d appreciate any real-world feedback before I commit to wrapping the full setup.

Heat shrink braided tubing is an excellent choice for protecting your lines if you choose the right material (HDR-25, RSFR-DR or better), apply it neatly and secure it securely, avoiding harsh friction. For more exposed or critical areas, add additional heat protection around or under the tubing.
