Default Best Tuner Choice

I am 16 years old and just totalled a V70 and am wondering what volvo would be the best to either tune or work onfor a 1/4 mile test my friends and I will be doing together as a fun competetion. My price limit for the car will be around 10,000. Thank you

I would say a 1997 850R or a 1998 S70T5.
Unless you want a rear wheel drive.
Then I would say a 740 Turbo.

1. Are we talking just car no mods?

2. Are we talking car and mods?

If we are talking one I would go with an s70T5 and if you can find it a manual.

If we are talking number two I would go with a 850 turbo, 850 T5 or an 850R.

$10k can easily be spent on a s70T5 and $10k can easily be spent on an 850 and mods.

Mods are not cheap and you could spend just $10k in mods and not get fully where you want to be.

The 850 turbo models and the s70 turbo models all have the same parts you can buy.

-Downpipes
-Catbacks
-Intakes
-ECU upgrades

The four typical mods for Volvo's. If you want to go more then...

-Intercooler upgrade, either the EST or IPD upgrade or build a FMIC which would be better in the long run.
-Turbo upgrade
-Aquamist system
-Injectors
-S60R manifold upgrade (I believe IPD USA and Viva Performance both sell this item)
-If you don't like that idea port and polish your intake and exhaust manifolds.

The engine is good for about 300Hp on these Volvo's and after that you will want to think about beefing up the internals and if you have an automatic you may want to think about doing a manual transmission swap and or beefing up your automatic by sending it off to Level 10.

If you're 16 and have already totaled a car, if your parents are intelligent, then they wouldn't allow you to get a fast car.

Plus, your insurance is going to kill with a major accident on your record.

I was looking at a 4 speed automatic s70T5, how fast could that do a quarter mile in with decent slicks on an abandoned road?

You just totaled one so I don't think you need to be modding anything right now.

You should get the slowest car possible if you've totaled a car at 16.

Plus, insurance is going to kill for a person of your record and age for anything fast.

How about a 7 series with a Ford 302 V8?

Speaking of a v8 in a 700, I understand that the irs will give a 760 a better ride quality over a 740, but can it handle the torque of a v8? Are they open or posi? Are there aftermarket suppliers for posi/lockers for an irs?

I have a 1980 244 DL, that I've changed the fuel pump in the tank and green relay switch under steering wheel, but it still won'tstart. It cranks but won't turn over. Can anyone give me info on what to do next. It's my only ride and I got to get back to work.
