Buying new 95 940, air not blowing through main vents?
Hello everybody!
I'm looking to purchase a 1995 940 base sedan, I drove the hell out of it today on a test drive and it ran beautifully with 170k miles on it. I did a thorough inspection and everything seems to be perfect except for two concerns. Please offer me any advice or knowledge you may have before I sink my money into this. Price is $2000
1. Air Conditioning works great, but it is only blowing out of the floor vents it seems. Regardless of fan speed or vent setting, even if I have it set for only the main vents, it blows only out of the floor vents. Vent **** seems to have no effect on where the air goes, but the fan speed **** works. If I hold my hand up to the main vents, I feel cold air there, just not blowing. The car does get cold from the floor vents.
2. I noticed a little darkness or 'wetness' around the oil filler cap, not like a burn just like an oily wet spot on the area immediately around the cap, on top of the engine. It could be just some spillage, or maybe was overfilled. Is this anything to worry about?
THANKS!!

Quick, easy answer. I was very pleasantly surprised. I hope this works for you, let me know.
For the answer I got, check this thread http://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/for...327383#p327383
Basically, there are rubber hoses connecting to a block at the back of the firewall (under the hood, where the engine bay is separated from the dash board or interior of the car) a little towards the drivers side. LISTEN for a hissing noise around there, LOOK for a hose disconnected or broken. In my case, one of the little rubber hoses just popped off of the "nipple" and I pushed it back on. Good as new!
P.S. Just noticed you are talking about a 2008 S40, that may be worlds apart from a 1995 940, your car was built by Ford. Try searching around for vent vacuum leaks, this is what the issue is called. Or search for location of vent vacuum hoses on your model. It is an issue with the ventilation vacuum lines either disconnected or broken.
