Default caliper socket size?

I have a 2012 XC90 54,000 miles. I'm trying to change the front brake pads and I cannot find the right socket to fit the caliper pins. I've tried every size star bits(T50,T55,T60) standard and metric hex head wrench also. I have done most all of my maintenance in the past on Fords, Chrysler products, and Toyota and I'm somewhat mechanically inclined. Ive called the dealership but they were not helpful at all. This is driving me nuts. Any help would be much appreciated.

My guess is, have you tried 17mm? It is probably 18mm and most sets come with 17,19 so you will have to get an 18.

Since you did not state what size hex head you tried, I could be way off.

Thanks for the input. I figured out it was a 9mm hex head. Both the handheld and the socket set I had didn't come with an 8mm or 9mm. So I went a bought a complete set from sears.
