The auxiliary socket (which I thought used to be called a "cigarette lighter") in the dashboard of my car doesn't provide power to things I plug into it, after a Garmin iQue M5 portable GPS unit's power cord broke.

Anew power cord I bought doesn't cause the GPS unit to turn on or recharge, so I assume that the GPS unit's old power cord either blew a fuse in the auxiliary socket or somehow broke the auxiliary socket.

Does anyone know how time-consuming and expensive it will be to repair the auxiliary socket if I take it to the dealer?

Have you checked fuse #13 in the passenger compartment fuse box?

That did the trick- thank you so much, as you saved me several hours of a trip to the dealer to get it fixed; I just replaced the fuse myself, and it was quick and easy. Thanks again!
