I have a 2002 S60 (bought used) with the vanilla in-dash single CD/stereo set-up. I used to have a CD changer in my Acura and I'd like one here. I asked the dealership how much to change to a6 disc CD changer set-up. They quoted $1,300 (!!). I laughed and walked out.

I want to know what's involved with this conversion. Hardware (CD changer and magazine), some software setings, what?? I gotta figure Volvo wires all their cars with the option. I'm tracking two auctions on eBay, one for a 2002S80 10 disc CD changer w/o magazine (p/n 8682780-1) and a 3 disc magazine from a 2002 C70. Both these together are under $200.

- Will they work in my S60?
- What else is needed, a software change?

Any Volvo techs on this board who can help? I'll pay up to $500 to upgrade, but not $1,300. Thanks in advance.

 

I have never done one.
But by looking at Vadis you will need a software uprade.
Also you will have to see if the car is already prewired.
I know the old cars were but not sure about a 2002.

If it is it will be in the trunk. Look behind the trunk liner around the drivers side over the rear wheel. It will probably be plastic tied to an existing bundle of wires.
