my problem gone, thank to Eric J (12/24/2007 9:47:09 PM):

....."From personal experience and other owners of V70's, ours have had key ring problems. The anti-theft system doesn't recognize the key and it won't start. Some have had the ring replaced with success. Another problem could be the tachometer sensor (I read this in another post by Tech)

Minewould not start a few times a week. When it didn't, I found if I turned the key toassessory and back off 5 times, it would start. (Not 1,2or3)(Picky bug!!)
I solved my no starts by usingone of my otherkeys.(One of the suggestions from Tech)

dunno if you will get this as i am just browsing through posts, but i am very interested to know if you know why the car wont start if the anti-theft system fails to recognise the key??? i own a 2002 s40 and cant for the life of me get it to start. i do know that there is no power going to the fuel pump but dont know why this is cus every thing else electrical seems to be working!!!???!! could this be the reason why and what happens if it doesen't recognise the key pls let me know if you do know anything i want my baby back on the road it's been a miserable 2weeks now without it.

 

If the immoblizer was stopping the car from running there would be a light on the dash flashing fast when trying to start it.
Usually on the U.S. cars it is a car with an X through it.
