Trying to make an extended warranty claim for the cost to replace Evaporator Pipes on the fuel system - they claim these are regular wear and tear and would need replacement but they are not hoses, they are metal and I don't think its a normal mtnc item.

Thoughts?

 

what part are you referring to as the evaporator pipe? are you referring to the evap system vent lines ? What year / model do you have and what diagnosis was given to suggest said part be replaced?

 

The code was ecm p044200- they replaced 'Evaporator Pipe' 32363657 and 32139991

The insurance says that these are actually/also "Vacuum Hoses" which are specifically excluded. Trying to see if the XC40 (2019) may have both a vacuum hoses and evp pipes maybe?

 

Those are the vent lines and you may need to have the dealer tell the insurance company they are hard lines and not simple rubber tubes like vacuum hoses under the hood that go to the purge valve etc. However, they are part of the emissions system so you may want to see if they are still covered under the factory warranty (quite often emissions parts have a longer warranty).
