I own a 2010 XC90 and am looking replacing my 2005 Legacy with a 2012 S60, Audi A4 etc...

I've heard about cheapening parts, etc since the Geely acquisiton was announced, but is there any evidence changes are being made?

When Lenovo bought IBM's PC business there was a lot of the same FUD about a Chinese company, but 6-years later, my brand new Lenovo T410 feels as sturdy and has performed as well as my IBM T23 did before the sale.

I spoke to an Audi dealer today and the sales guy told me that Volvo's sales have been declining since the acquisition and that a significant number of dealers are closing.

Does anyone know if there are facts behind this?

Honestly, Geely aside I have been leaning toward the S60 T6 (I can't believe Audi is selling a $35k car with a 2.0L I4) but if the company isn't going to honor the 5 year warranty I'm not so sure...

I believe that control of Volvo is still where it belongs, in Sweden. The new s60 was designed way before the Geely aquisition and should be fine. There IS a difference between my 02 XC and my 09 S80 (mostly small annoyances thanks to FoMoCo), but not enough that it should deter one from purchasing a Volvo.

 

I don't see much changes yet. The only changes I found are the information system to the tech are different.
