Default Help buying new Volvo

Looking to buy new S40 (2011). My question is whether putting extra dollars for AWD is of any significant benefit. We live in Ottawa, Canada and the winters are harsh but then, we are upgrading from a Nissan Sentra. Thanks for your opinion/comments.

I would go AWD. It will handle a lot better in the snow.

All Wheel Drive (AWD) is important for keep power to the road in bad traction conditions - that comes in handy going up a steep slope or pulling out into traffic in snow - less wheelspin and more grab. Dynamic Stability and Traction Control (DSTC) will keep the car pointed in the direction you want to go in in bad traction conditions, which is more useful in avoiding an accident while underway.
