Default Buying a new Volvo - soft pricing?

I am looking to buy a S40 or S60 this month.

I am surprised how many 2006 models are still on the lot, and also how much they are willing to come down off the MSRP.

I received an internet quote today that is 79% of the MSRP on a 2007 S40.

Is this typical of Volvos, or are sales really slow right now? Is there some endemic problem withthe Volvo line?

What part of the world are you in? In my area, Detroit, the economy sucks. To show how bad, when I bought my F-150 this year the dealer had a Shelby sitting in the showroom. He told me $45,000-$47,000 for it. If I had money to throw around I would of bought it in a heartbeat and sold it on ebay or something. They are going for about $67,000 to as high as $80,000 at some dealers across the US.
