Default HHHHHHHEEEEEEEELLLLLLPPPPPPPPP

I was driving my 2004.5 T5 the other when I noticed the car didnt turn over the first time I tried. The lights came on and everything so I tried again and it was fine. A few minutes later while driving, my windsheild wipers came on and my message indicator first said trunk lid open, the srs airbag check urgent. The windows won't go down, the doors wont lock, the turn signals don't work, my gas gauge is way below zero, and a red (looks like a hazard sign) comes on. My windsheild wipers won't stop, tried using the fluid to see if that would work, but it wont even spray. I disconnected the battery thinking it may reset the computer. I have had the battery unplugged for about a day and i just tried it and it still hasn't stopped. Now even though my car starts, my friend came over with a jump pack to see if the battery was bad. Well he was great to come over, however his jump pack was not even a 1/4 percent charged. But when he unhooked the charger and i shut off the car. It wouldn't start. And since it didn't start, I couldn't get my key out. I don't know if the computer is just having a freak out or what. I don't want to drive my car due to the airbag light. Can that deploy?? Any ideas what is going on with my car would be great!!

If you could specify which T5 you have, we can help you better.

The SRS should not deploy due to the light on the dash, unless all parameters are met (frontal impact, etc...).

It seems to have been caused by electrical system problem (moisture in the fuse box area?). See if you can find an independent shop that specialises in Swedish/Euro makes. If not, you may have to give up some $ for a dealer.

Also, wait to see if you can receive better replies. I'm an 850 driver and am not privy to other models.

I'm not sure whic T5. I believe it was the top model that came out in 2004.5. Since my last post the car has started, not started, and stalled. It also seem not to accelrate as well as it was. My car is still under warranty, I got my car started yesterday and just drove it down to volvo. It finally started and continued to run so I just got it there rather then needing a tow. This issue had happened to me in November as well. The SRS light didn't come on but it spit out every error you can imagine. I don't know why this continues to happen, and last time it was at volvo they had to update the computer and some other stuff, can't actually remember what. But then shortly after that my battery died. It was the original battery however. But seems rather odd that this has happened twice in the past 6 months. I'm not sure how moisture would have gotten into the fuse box? Hasn't been raining or anything. Well if any other guesses I am def. interested. I will let you know when volvo comes back with an answer, unfortunately they usually have my car atleast a week, EVERY TIME I bring it in.

Well volvo called me today and stated that the fuse box under the glove box had been disconnected from the harness causing wires to be disconnected. Does this sound right? I'm just afraid that once my warranty is up and this happens again there going to tell me that I need new computers in my car, when it probably needed one the whole time.

If an electrical connector has been disconnected, the attached devices would go blank rather than go haywire. Make sure to have the dealer fix it completely before the warranty expires, otherwise they'll start charging you $500 at every stop.

As far as I know, software upgrade is generally for engine or transmission control ECUs, and I do not believe they have anything to do with wipers, door locks, power windows, etc... If there is another solid state device (circuit board with LSI, IC, transistor, resistor, capacitor, etc...)where all the problematic components are hooked up to, it could be the problem but I don't know which T5 it is, I have no clue as to the system[&:]. Does your car still have model name on the rear-end of the car (S40, S60, etc...)? If not, do you still have the owner's manual? If not, try locating a manufacturer's plate around the door sills, etc...
