Smile High mileage Volvos thread

Just wondering how many Volvos here have tons of miles on them and still going strong.

I currently have around 302,000 miles on mine with the original engine and trans. Still runs great, but the synchros in the trans are feeling a little worn. I have only had it for around 8,000 miles, but it has given me no major problems besides an exhaust gasket that recently went. I am hoping to make it to 350,000 at a minimum with no major engine/trans work needed, but really want to go to 400,000. I do drive a lot for work, so hopefully it won't be too long!

I had a 1987, 740 GLE that had 405,000 before I gave it away. It had a transmission rebuilt (around 245,000 -$375) and a motor block replaced around 275,000 ($1,200).

It was serviced at the dealer about 4 times when I first got it. I really did not change the oil much after 200,000 miles which cause the need to have the block replaced. I once check the oil and it only had about 1 quart in it. LOL After I had the motor replace I started changing the oil again. I think I replace 2 in tank fuel pumps and 1 main fuel pump.

Default Still going.....

My 1986 245 was a 1 owner car for 23yrs. It had 294K miles on the odo when it stopped working... sometime in 2002 as near as I can tell from the stack of service records that came with it. One of our first projects was to fix the odo...took less than an hour with the kit and DVD from ipdusa. Original engine with good oil pressure; passed smog easily. California car with no rust. We plan on it lasting for quite a while longer.

My achievement isn't quite as impressive; however, I am pleased...

My '97 850 Wagon has 210,000-ish (odometer stopped working a while back) and is still running great!

I have had to have repairs done on wear-and-tear type issues, but nothing unexpected for a car of this age and mileage.

I recently had to get a new used steering wheel 'cuz the horn got stuck on. It turns out the plastic pieces that control the horn were broken. I also had the power steering line replaced because it was leaking... no new tranny or major engine issues.

It runs very well.... doesn't shift as softly as it once did when really flooring it, but oh well. It's a solid car, and how many 97 owners can say they have side airbags?!

Just bought an 05 S60 in June with 16,000 miles. Already have 25,000+
It's a creampuff.

Most people see "high mileage" and think 100,000+. We see high mileage and think 2, 3, or even 400,000. Gotta love those Volvos!

...I can't really say I have that high mileage...135,000 with minor repairs...til now. Just sent my '98 S70 in for rough idle/acceleration among other problems.

hello all, new to forum, I have a 2003 v70 w/ 225k on it, still running great. I was lucky, I am the 2nd owner and the first was a very wealthy man who brought it to the dealer for everything, so records are there along with all the preventative maintenance. I had a 240 with 210k and my father in law has one with 375k still running strong....

My 854 has 215k, I drive that every day. And my 855 that I just bought has 300k, but that engine will be coming out in the spring and one with 100k will be taking it's place.
