Default ...new to volvos: first problem & first thread

Hi there -

...delighted with the 'one owner from new, service stamps to date, 2002 2.5 D5 V70'. Took it out for a spin yesterday along the A50 & was impressed with acceleration, top speed (cough cough) and breaking.

However, less impressed when we heard what sounded like a grass-hopper in the engine! The noise is coming from one of the pulley wheels from the belt on the off-side of the engine.

There are 5 wheels in the pully system, 2 large, 3 small. The lower, smaller one, just infront of the driver's feet is the culprit. Its got a nice little wiggle on it. I'm presuming its requires a new bearing - might be something to do with my top speed - but is this a straight forward DIY job & where best to get non-brand good quality spare parts from for Volvos - based in Stafford.

Charlie.... as I have learned, you have a very particular vehivle (Volvo) and they seem to not like NON oem parts. You can get aftermarket parts if you wish, but try this place before running out to buy. Most people on here use this, as my self. They have awesome prices, VOlvo Oem parts and a lot of times, free shipping(with a certain ammonut). http://www.fcpgroton.com/category-ex...464/by_year/52
