Default Hot Start Problem

Hi everyone, I'm an enthusiastic amateur motor mechanic who is trying to sort out a hot-start problem with my 1989 Volvo 740SE. I have a good bit of general engineering experience but haven't done much motor maintenance.

My car started to have an intermittent problem with starting when the engine was hot a few months ago and it has become steadily worse. Now, the situation is that the car starts first time, every time, when the engine is cold and runs smoothly but, as soon as the engine gets warm and the ignition is switched off, it won't restart until the engine is absolutely cold – which usually takes about 4 hours.

I’m now at a loss. So far I have done the following -

Cleaned jets and replaced seals
Replaced coolant sensor
Replaced pump relay
Replaced ecu box
Replaced pump control relay
Replaced accumulator
Changed plugs

The car is a 1989 volvo 740SE and was built in Belgium. It has a B200E engine, manual injection (no jetronic control and no Hall Sensor.)

If anyone has any suggestions or ideas I’d be very glad to hear them.

Thanks,
Ray
