Youre front axle is busted? A certain sound or somethng to look/listen for? Im just not convinced that its my hub making a moaning sound due to its intermittance. Could it be an axle?

Please note I'm not privy to the S60s.

In general, a retiring wheel bearing (hub) would make low-tone groan kind of noise. I'm not sure what a busted axle is, it is usually the axle-end; cv-joint that fails and they make clicking tones at turns.

If you/technician visually inspects and nothing is found, it would probably be the bearing hub but wait to see if you can get reply from Moderator Tech or other S60 drivers.

Usually if the axle were to break the car wouldn't move.
If the outer joint was bad then it would click when turning.
If the inner joint went bad the car would vibrate bad only when accelerating.
