How often does Volvo offer specials?
Looking at possibly buying a new xc90. The current specials and incentives end next week. Does anyone know how often they add new specials and incentives? Will new ones start after the old ones end?
Normally the best time to buy new is at the end of the model year when the new models are beginning to show - assuming you are ok with the current year not next year's model. That's why you see specials and incentives. What you need to trust is your negotiating power with the local dealer - they know the real cost of the car (ie dealer's invoice price may be lowered by factory to dealer incentives/discounts) before offering you at a price. If you really want to get a best price you need to 1) be able to walk away if the dealer doesn't meet your asking price 2) be flexible on features/color by buying a car's that's already in a dealer's inventory (or other dealer's inventories). 3) do your online homework using sites that provide information on average sale prices/known dealer invoice pricing/known dealer incentives. Further to item 1, consider using a site like Autotrader to find a dealer that may be a few hundred miles away. Reality is, if they have a car in stock and you show up and threaten to walk, they know you're never coming back in. Last comment - strongly consider going certified pre-owned. You can get a 2 year old car with under 30K miles with an extended warranty and miss out on that first year depreciation. (most financial gurus recommend this as your best value play)
