HU-650 audio unit wont turn on after replacing battery
I have a 2007 Volvo S60 2.5T with a stock HU-650 OEM audio unit. About a week ago the car battery went dead, at which time the radio display went blank and would not turn on. The car was jump started so I could drive it to Pepboys and get a new battery. After replacing the battery everything started working again except the radio. It still does not turn on and the display is still blank.
Any suggestions? I already confirmed that this audio unit does not require a code. The Volvo service department wants to charge me to diagnose the problem with no guarantee that they can fix it. They said if I have to replace the audio unit it would be over $700, which seems kind of silly since you can get an after market one for much cheaper. Besides, I find it hard to believe that the audio unit just happened to go bad at the exact same time as the battery going dead. Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
-Joel

Check all the fuses. I ended up taking my car to the Volvo service dept and they replaced two fuses under the drivers side dash that had nothing to do with the audio according to the manual. After they did that the radio started working again.

I am sorry I didn't get back to you after our original posts. I also learned this concerning my "power outlet" (aka cigarette lighter) which I use for my radar detector. The NAPA guys and I were all over that car until we found a bad fuse. I think the problem stems from the fact that the S80 was somewhat of a "technological marvel" when introduced. Volvo really went all out, little chips and processors everywhere and the wiring became very complex, which always leads to what engineers call "eccentricities" and the rest of call "screw ups".

dead battery, replaced it and now radio wont work on 2007 Volvo S60..any advice?
My battery went dead and I had it replaced this morning and having same issue as i see everyone else has. Radio wont turn on at all. I have a 2007 Volvo S60. I have been told this year and model doesnt need a radio code. And my local dealer told me they could not tell me anything over phone would need to bring it in and the diagnostic fee is $95.00. Thats a load of crap. So does anyone know what could be the issue? If its not a radio code..if it is how do I get the code...and if its not how do I know what fuse is bad? I know where fuse box is but theres a lot in there, how do you know which one controls radio...any suggestions...Thanks!
