Default Instrument lights on '92 240

I have a '92 240 wagon and my dash lights (speedometer light, etc.) and console lights (heater light, shifter light, etc.) are not working. The fuse is fine and I have current beyond the fuse. I am thinking there might be a problem in the dimmer switch ( maybe the connector just worked loose) and am wondering how to access the back. It looks like the little panel to the left of the speedometer should just come out or do I have to disassemble the whole speedometer cluster?
Thanks, Prairie

Yep, pull the 2 ***** off, pull the rectangular panel, undo two screws - use a 2 into 1 spade connector to bypass the rheostat

? You have to remove the left and right panels to get to the 4 screws that hold the instrument cluster in - so I don't understand your question

Before I posted the original question, I had contacted a local repair shop who said that they would have to pull the instrument cluster to get to the back of the rheostat. I was just wanting to double check that that was not the case and the small panel would pull out once the two ***** were removed. I have since followed your advice and made the repair successfully. Many thanks, Prairie
