Hi all - I have a 2006 Volvo S40. Auto trans.

Just the past few days, I have had a clicking noise show up under the stick. It sounds like and electronic switch or something. There is no pattern, and it does not happen all the time.

However, twice now I've pulled in to park, and I can't get past neutral... and after I'm in neutral I can't go back to drive. I get stuck in N. Then I wait a few minutes, and I can move the stick like there's never been a problem.

Any thoughts on what this is? I don't need to be stuck somewhere unexpectedly...
