Anybody ever use Maaco? Their prices are definitely attractive to repaint a 12 year old Volvo but I'm looking for any feedback from anybody who has ever used them. I'm sure a lot of it has to do with who actually sprayed the car and their prep work effort. I'm not looking to change the color, just need a fresh coat put on as my clear coat is peeling off and lots of scratches.

Never used them because I saw some cars they had done first. Maybe if you buy their "top of the Line" job it would be better.

 

I guess the best way to find out is to watch the cars that roll of their lot.

 

What I have heard is that their prep work sucks. I have heard of success stories if you prep on your own and just use them to spray paint and clearcoat.

But then again, this is all hearsay

 

They just painted mine in Tampa couple weeks ago. Great job too. I went with same color, blue. Only it came out more of a metallic blue, instead of the flatter blue it came out with back in '01. $600 bucks, clear coat, 4 year warranty, and they fixed my trim up. I would highly recommend Maaco

 

I guess it all depends on the management and the skill of the workers. If I used the same exact paint as Picasso, I could never replicate his work lol. S40, i'm down in West Palm

 

NEVER, NEVER, never, never, never get the lower two options. A guy I know just got his car MESSED UP getting the lower level special trying to save a buck. It actually turned my stomach when I seen it. Yuk!!!

Now I had a Honda painted there after an accident and I got the next to the top paint all over and it was very nice. Let them know up front that you plan to sell the car for $10,000 after they paint it and you have OCD so don't mess it up and they should do a good job.

 

Prep work is lousy! Wife's friend had her Acura CL clearcoated, looks good from across the street! My Lincoln dealer did my truck, close on price, excellent prep work, beautiful job! 2yrs later still looks perfect! Shop around, talk to previous customers, look @ vehicles completed. Paid off 4 me!

 

I would just repaint myself. 50% prep, 20% paint product, 30% your own skills.

I have seen really really good paint jobs done in home garages. However it took them a month or two to finish, but the end product was as good as a Pro's.

My 2 cents. I actually have NEVER heard of these guys before.
