Not sure but maybe you should post this in the V70 section and search that area. Brake systems have fluid, master cylinder, and calipers. Have the brakes been blead lately? Has fluid been replace within the past 2 years? Is there ample fluid in the res? Service the brake fluid system and see what happens.

Last time I had this happen on my Sentra was because the caliper guide pins were not lubed properly. WHat happens is the first time you press on the brake it feels like nothing since all that force is being applied against the friction of the dirty guide pins. Then once you squeeze past that, it works fine. When replacing brake pads, the caliper guide pins should always be cleaned (brake fluid works nicely) and relubed with special grease.

do u have the same problem every morning when u first appeal the brakes, if so, u may want 2 look into a brake booster or brake vacuum pump.
