new axle install
i appear to be in the eye of the storm, so to speak. [>:]any tips on how to get drivers side axle pushed in all the way. I can't seem to get the c-clip to compress so that the axle will pop in. I drive a 95' 850 wagon.
Hi,
Do you mean the outer (wheel side) CV-joint side's Circlip? It would be much easier to install than to remove one. My fellow mechanic in Vermont has a special pair of pliers that is specifically used on those Circlips.
Try tapping with plastic mallet to see if the Circlip clicks in place.
Or, wait until the top-dog of the forum named Moderator Tech replies.
Cheers,

If the clip looks to stretched replace it.
If it doesn't look to bad make sure the axle is going in straight then hold the outer part of the axle and slide the inner part out some then slam it in. It is almost like using a slide hammer to install it.
Then if all else fails try to locate an old Axle nut and install it till the nut is about flush with the end of the threads thenus a big hammer to tap it in.
