Well, let me introduce myself... I am a 15 year old kid living in Texas. I speak fluent German, and love almost all European automakers: BMW, Mercedes, VW, Porsche, Volvo, Saab, and the Frenchies.

Anyway, I have always liked Volvo, and so recently we were offered a 1998 fully loaded volvo s90 (Leather, premium sound, 200 HP engine, etc) with over 100,000 miles on it. We got it for what seems like a good price of 7k dollars. I got it b/c volvo is safe, and it's good for me to learn to drive.

I love the car. It's rock solid, and really comfortable, but some things are broken. The passenger power seat is complete kaput, and the front windshield sprayers are also broken (The motor runs, but the water just leaks everywhere).

The engine is awesome. It fools you completely. I drive with it, and it seems like it is barely pulling the monster car, but then on the highway, I almost floored it once, and it went into kick-down and FLEW!!! It scared me so much, but made me love the car even more!!!

Anyway, now I've noticed that the S90 is not available as a model anymore, and I want to know something about it... For example, was it volvo's prime luxury car in 1998? And, what other helpful information is there to know about the car?

The S90 was the top line Volvo in 1998. It was actually the bridge from the 960 to the S80.

 

It was only avalible for a Year and a Half.
It was the Last Model Volvo made that was Rear Wheel drive.

 

Why was it rear wheel drive?
And does it have some sort of special value b/c it was the last rear wheel drive car by volvo?

 

Not sure why they designed it Rear Wheel drive.

No real special Value but alot of people want them. And the ones that have one usually don't want to sell.
