Newbie from CA with model questions
Hello Volvo gurus, i come bearing questions I looked through all of the pinned links and found nothing like this so i will go ahead and ask. I am beggening my search for a volvo, i have come to love the look of the 240's and other similar models, i have a few needs and pet peeves with cars so i would like to say what im looking for in a car and have you guys direct me as to which model with which powerplant would be best. I am not one to leave things stock, I come from a background of LT1 and LS1 F-body GM's with a few highly modded 94-96 Impalas and caprices thrown in for good measure, and while those cars will always be favorites of mine i would like to go a different route this time and the volvo is calling to me with that said i am looking for a vehicle that has mods available, i want rear wheel drive obviously, I dont want parts to be hard to find or the car to be insanely difficult to work on, reliability ( i understand the give and take between reliability and performance) is key and a 4 door would be great. what models should i be consideringand which should i stay away from? any key things to look for in the model i choose that would be warning signs? Thank you guys in advance for any help! take care all

RE: Newbie from CA with model questions
Welcome. rememer to leave questions in the right area of the forums.
The 240 is a great car as is the 740s.
These two models are a great starting point for a build up. The B230ft...motor (or redblocks) or the B21FTis a really good powerplant and can handle 900+hp if build/tuned right.
If you can find a 242 turbo or 244 or 242 GT...those would be what I'd start with.
How much power are you looking for and how much you willing to spend?
EDIT: since your in CA like me, you will need to find a 79 or lower year 240. because of emissions, and then just swap the motor for a 90+ motor.
