Newbie Old-Time Car Nut Needs Tips!
I've been playing with cars at every level imaginable since the '50s, and want to get rid of our newish Japanese computer-controlled-everything vehicle and get an old-school, ultra-reliable car. My Volvo friends, of course, say get a Volvo. OK, I've had and liked several older ones (544's, 122's, 240's) but would like something more luxurious, like a 960. It's got to have RWD. (Just a quirk of mine.) So what I need to know, are there any particular years, engines, transmissions that are best, and how about some to stay away from? Are the turbos high-maintenance? Worth the trouble?
Any tips would be appreciated!
