Default OIL CHANGE ?

Is it Okay to get my oil changed at the local oil change place..or do you think I need to go to the dealer...2.5 hours away?
I have a 2004 V70R...synthetic oil....my husband will not do it..becauseI bug him too much when he even looks at my car...~LOL~

I personally would avoid franchise shops or average town shops. Entry-level technicians are often found at franchise shops, and they probably wouldn't have OEM filters and would install some cheap brand filters, which only God knows where they are made at.

An independent shop specialising in Swedish/Euro makes is probably the best place to have your Volvo serviced. And I would have their ASE-Master Technician or the lead technician work on the car. If such shop is not locally available, I would at least buy the filter & synthetic oil and see if those franchise/town shops are willing to accept them from you.
