My wife and I purchased this car recently. Today is the first time I've had to change the oil. After I removed the oil plug and drained the oil I realized I can not remove the black filter cap. I just ran to the computer did a quick search on this site and now realize you may need a special tool for removal. Because its Sunday and no specialty parts stores are open today do you guys think it would be safe to just replace the oil and leave the filter on until the next oil change? I currently have driven the car 3200 miles and if I change it again (once I get the new tool) in another 3000 miles I'll still be under the Volvo recommended 7500 mile interval. Thoughts?

 

You should be fine. But if you have an Auto parts store near you most of them sell the caps for the housing.(wrench to remove it)

 

Thanks Moderator. I took your advice and will just wait. We do have a AutoZone but they were out of that part. I'll just get it for the next oil change.
