Default Oil Leak from '94 850 Turbo

My 1994 850 Turbo Sportswagon started leaking quite a bit of oil (an ounce a day sitting in drive) all at once. Had it checked and was told it was the turbo causing the leak. The shop is going to look at it in the morning. If it goes from no leak to quite a bit all in a day is it more indicative of a seal leak, or do the turbos leak that much oil that quickly if they go bad? The turbo appeared to engage and run fine on highway, but when you park it there is a small oil slick now. Without checking, the mechanic mentioned that the turbo is probably gone. The car has 92k is all, which I thought was pretty low for a '94, and it has been driven on short jaunts (mostly highway for 14 yrs, as I am the only owner). Also, I was told a new turbo will be about $900 just for the part with about $1500 total. How about a rebuilt one? Thoughts? Thx for your time.

Hopefully it's just the oil return line which goes be fairly often, and is very easy and inexpensive to fix. I have had mine done on one car and done it myself twice. It's just a gasket on one end and an O ring on the other. Keep your fingers crossed.
